Our aim is not to be the biggest bike shop, but to be your favorite!
The Bicycle Company was started in Hampton Hudson's small garage in 1994. By 1998, The Bicycle Company had moved to its current location on 779 North Church Street. Andrew Griffin, the current owner, apprenticed under Hampton Hudson at the age of 15 learning the trade and furthering his love of bikes. From 2000 to 2004, he was Hampton's head mechanic and shop manager. In 2007, The Bicycle Company was sold to Mike Robinson and he continued the tradition of great service, honest pricing, and speedy repairs so that folks in the area can get back to riding the trails and roads of beautiful Western North Carolina. Andrew Griffin always maintained a relationship with The Bicycle Company and was given the opportunity to purchase the beloved shop in 2020. Despite the pandemic, Andrew followed his dream and after a brief remodel, reopened The Bicycle Company in March 2020. He aims to meet riders of all abilities where they are in their cycling journey by providing the same excellent service, welcoming atmosphere, and local expertise that The Bicycle Company was founded on. The Bicycle Company's goal is not to be the biggest shop in town, but to be your favorite shop!
